Fishing is an outdoor sport that soothes both the mind and body. Fishing in a beautiful environment can relieve stress and bring physical and mental pleasure, especially the moment when a fish takes the bait and the feeling of playing the fish, which is extremely exciting. Wild fishing, in particular, keeps you lingering because you never know what kind of fish will bite next.

Fishing with a stick has two main drawbacks. First, it’s inconvenient to carry, and sticks are heavier than fishing rods, making long-term fishing tiring. Fishing rods, by contrast, are lightweight, collapsible, and easy to transport.
Second, fishing with a stick can’t match the enjoyment of using a proper fishing rod. Stick fishing is overly brute-force—thin fishing lines are prone to breaking, and you’ll never experience the thrill of hooking a large fish with light tackle (small hooks and thin lines). Fishing rods are different: they are lightweight, rigid, and elastic, with strong “waist” strength (flexible mid-section) that better protects the line. With proper technique, the sensation of playing a big fish on light tackle using a rod creates an incredibly satisfying and exhilarating experience.

Thirdly, regarding catch rates: When fishing with a stick, thin lines paired with small hooks are prone to breaking. If using thick lines, the float will often show no movement or only subtle signals when a fish bites—especially in winter, making it difficult to judge when to set the hook. Additionally, it’s inconvenient to change the rig, and a knotted fishing line is essentially useless. Fishing rods, however, allow for reasonable rig matching and easy line changes. When fish are biting lightly, switching to thin lines can provide clearer float signals, leading to more catches and a greater sense of achievement.
In summary: Some people fish to relieve stress and relax after work, while others are hooked by the thrill of the moment a fish takes the bait. For some, fishing is all about the sense of accomplishment that comes from landing a catch—a deeply satisfying experience.
